Q: Why is this site here?
A: Quite simply, we were looking for a webcam that met our particular specifications. But what sounds like a simple job turned out to be a right pain. All these so called review and compare sites just had incomplete lists of webcams with no way of quickly seeing which ones had say 640x480 resolution, or which ones had motion detection alerts. So we had to compile our own aggregated list of features, it took ages! This site is here to freely share our findings with you.

Q: What about the price comparison links?
A: In the same way, we wanted to find the cheapest place to buy the webcams we had selected for ourselves, I mean who wouldn't? Well as we had gone to effort of sourcing the best places to buy them, it was marginal effort to include that information for you too.

Q: So how much is this time and cost saving database?
A: Nothing. Zip. Nadda. It's completely free! All we ask is that if you do purchase a webcam, you do so from the links on this site which helps keep the site self financing. And if you want us to improve this site to better service your needs, please take a few moments to answer the couple of questions we have, it's as simple ask click, click, click.... click!

Q: How can you afford to run this site if everything's free?
A: When you've chosen your webcam, all we ask is you use the links on this site to go buy it. We get a few pence / cents each time you do. It's not much, but it helps pay for the bandwidth and hosting so we're content with that. Plus you have our thanks so you get the warm fuzzy feeling inside that you are giving a little back.

Q: Why are there questions?
A: Sorry, but it's in our nature to be inquisitive. We want to know about you and why you are interested in webcams, what you want them for and what you look for in them. The more we know, the better we can make this site. Let's put it this way, if everyone who comes here says they are definitely interested in Motion Detection features, then we are going to look at putting more effort into that. Perhaps we'll do an in-depth analysis of all the different types of Motion Detection out there, and sub-categorise that part of the database to give more data, or perhaps come up with a How To guide on Motion Detection. But if no one is interested in Motion Detect, then why bother? It's just trying to be practical and help us help you.

Q: How can I help?
A: We rely on good people like yourselves to keep us informed of new webcams that come onto the market, those that we might have missed or shock horror, if you find a mistake in our data! If you find one, send as much info as you can to: including at least the make and model number, please include links to the manufacturers web page, product datasheet and user manual. Or you could be a real star and complete a full set answers!  Unless you say not to, we will credit you with finding it too and we will send you the latest database again once we have added your webcam so you can see your name in lights (less your email address obviously)!

Q: Why isn't my Webcam listed?
A: Not that sifting through thousands of pages of technical manuals isn't fun, but sadly there are just more webcams out there than we have spare time.  So we have tried to focus on a broad range of what we consider the very best webcams.  If there's one you really want, send us the details:
